mountain peak pushes through snowy clouds over arctic river

Frosted Tooth – 2024

This little creek had a tremendous amount of character, and ran straight towards this beautiful mountain. After a couple days of harsh weather, and on and off snow, it was really lovely to have the snow become an asset instead of a threat! While you can likely see the snow accumulating on the peak, if you look closer, you’ll see snow actually falling from the sky and these lovely dramatic clouds.

Two fun facts about this image:

  1. Shortly after photographing this scene, I slipped on a rock and my boot got soaked in this river. The boot would remain wet for days.
  2. At the moment of taking this image, this was also the farthest north I’d ever been. In fact, after taking this photo, I headed back south, and as of writing this I haven’t been this far north since!
