Mount Hubbard breaking through cloud

Hubbard – 2024

I’ve spoken before about the scale of mountains and glaciers in Kluane, but in this scene we have a really really big boy mountain.  This is Mount Hubbard: the 10th tallest peak in Canada.  There’s only one mountain in any other Canadian province or territory taller than it. Hubbard is a staggering block of rock standing 4,557 metres (14,951 feet) tall, and surrounded by ice.

On my visit in 2024, the park’s interior was just oozing character.  Low cloud and patchy light made it seem hard to see where the clouds ended and the ice began.  Seeing this sort of scene emerge from the clouds is the sort of thing that gets my imagination flying!  What an absolute treat to experience!
