Bruce Peninsula National Park is a place I hold near and dear. It’s where I really found my love for landscape photography, it’s probably my favourite place in Ontario, and it’s one of the places I really feel at peace.
Sadly, it’s been a few years since I’d been there – the park has gotten noticeably busier, there are more rules about visiting, and my schedule just never lined up with an opportunity to return, until spring of 2024. I’d forgotten how powerful those cliffs feel when you stand below them!
The shoreline changes every time I go – not with tide (it is a lake, after all), but rather with water levels in the lake. Last time I stood here all this foreground was under water! With all that character in the rock, slightly lower lake levels, and the help of some breaking waves, this image came together. I also paid for the image by having wet boots for the next two days – I regret nothing!
