Banff National Park is truly one of Canada’s landscape treasures, and certainly the crown jewel in that in that treasure is Moraine Lake and the Valley of the 10 Peaks. This is probably one of the most popular attractions in Canada, and as a result, it’s a tough place to visit – especially for sunrise. Vast crowds flock to this location to witness the iconic view of Canadian landscapes, and frankly, I don’t blame them as I have done it as well.
This is probably my favourite image I’ve ever captured at Moraine Lake. It was actually a pretty quiet morning there by normal standards, and to be honest it just wasn’t clear if the mountain would make an appearance from behind the drifting cloud and fog. Thankfully things cleared up just in time to showcase some beautiful warm light on the mountain face, revealing such a Canadian icon.
