After my big trip to Baffin Island I went through a bit of a dark patch. I got stuck way up north for over a week, and despite my efforts to go out and get photos, I got skunked over and over again. I tried to go up a local mountain, made a wrong turn, and fell in a little river instead. I tried a different path up the local mountain and this time I got up there… Just in time for a white out-snow storm. When I got home, I was focused on trying to collect some images near where I live, but I had no luck for weeks. I probably had 6 or 7 outings where I failed over and over again to even find a even a single scene of interest. That started to really weigh on me, until the morning I took this image.
I woke up early and after seeing some light fog in the neighbourhood, I knew exactly where I wanted to head. I knew this stand of birch had would let some lovely light through in the morning, and as soon as I explored the area, I was captivated by the many spiderwebs glowing in the morning light under the fall-coloured birch trees. Thankfully, the scene came together and snapped me out of my photographic funk.
