Mount Monolith is an icon of Tombstone Territorial Park, with it’s pointy spires visible from much of the area, and on both sides of the mountain range. I’ve wanted to capture this mountain for some time, and I was determined to do it on this trip.
These were somewhat familiar rapids for me, but I always struggle to find a good spot to park my tripod considering parts of the stream are a bit deep. Eventually I decided that the best spot for the tripod was the deepest part of the water, and nearly out of reach from the closest rocks. With a little bit of contortion, balance, nearly going for a swim, and of course some luck, I came back with this image.
