So when I first thought about the north, sand was not what I was thinking about. As it turns out, however, Northern Canada is sandy. I suspect I’ll never get all of the sand out of my gear from summer of 2024. In this case, massive glaciers grind down rock over time, and wind delivers that dust all over, especially into my stuff. This particular spot makes seeing that moving sand/dust really easy. Wind coming from the Ä’äy Chù (Slim’s River) valley blows dust almost constantly toward Kluane Lake. In the evening, the sun catches this dust and can put on a show. I had a lot of fun looking for some of these unique grasses and other plants to create a bit of depth and colour range in the scene.
